Snake Says "Ssssss"

Sam loves playing outdoors.  If left to him, he would never come in.  When we sit down for dinner, he says "picnic table, Momma."  He wants to eat on the back deck at his picnic table.  He begs to go for walks or bike rides or to the park often.  He is a true outdoorsman already.

CedarRock is an outdoorsman's dream, so it's one of Sam's favorite places to go.  He has the inside track with the owners and gets pretty special treatment every time he goes.  For instance, take this Sunday, while Michael and I attended a church meeting, Sam hung out with Kimmie and Pawpaw.  As soon as we arrived at the farm, he went straight out the back door, curled his little hand around his mouth, and belted out his best turkey call.  My boy is one with the animals for sure.  Later on, during probably their third Gator ride of the evening, they spotted this...and caught it.

Even though I'm not itching to ever be this close to even the friendliest of snakes, I am thankful for Kimmie and Pawpaw who are willing to let Sam experience them close up.
He's learning so much, so fast.

Birthdays and Bulldozer Cake

My sister is a master with all things baking.  We all know it.  She is the go-to-girl when we need a great dessert.  This year, when asking Cameron what he wanted her to make at his birthday party, he only wanted a "bull-dozer cake."  So, in true Amanda fashion, she came up with these...one for each birthday boy.  Kayden went with a Kubota tractor and Cam got his bull-dozer.

Kayden - 6 years old and just lost his first top tooth.
Cameron - 3 years old and WILD all the time.

There was fun to be had outside with gas medals and big sticks.

And, there was a great spread of food inside.
At Kayden's request, it was a taco themed dinner.

Oh, and it was Amanda's birthday too.
Although, it's easy to forget all about Momma when she shares a birthday with her baby.

I think they liked their cakes!  I know we all enjoyed eating them.  YUM!

Sam's attempt at eating cake.
He's learning to love birthdays.  Sometimes he just starts singing
"Happy Birthday to You" out of the blue and then yells, "CAKE!"

You can always tell when the cake is good by how much your guests are wearing...

Opening presents
Flying airplanes, a dream light, a bowling set, and ice cream maker, and some
fuddy-dud got them math and reading workbooks to practice for school.

Happy birthday Mersing boys.  You sure have a great momma
who let the spotlight shine on you (on her birthday.)
