I've been trying to take Sam out on "dates" with me for a while now to spend some one-on-one time with him before little sister gets here. Sometimes we go to the park for a picnic, or the playplace at Chik-Fil-A. But today, was an extra special day for the two of us. I got us tickets to see Veggie Tales Live! We have been singing the Veggie Tales theme song for days in anticipation of this date. He just about sqeals every time we talk about it, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't even know what a "live concert" is. I can hardly get enough of this sweet boy's smile.
They had all kinds of games set up on the lawn in front of the Allen Arena for the kids to do before the show. Sam was kind enough to pose for one picture by the pretty flowers, and then...
It was off to get his first tattoo, kick the winning soccer goal, and bounce in the inflatables. This date was already a huge hit, and we hadn't even made it to our seats!
We found our seats and had lots of room on either side so we could get up and dance if we wanted.
My camera phone wasn't taking the best stage shots, but here's all the characters on stage for the opening number. After that, Bob and Larry rarely were on stage together and Sam just couldn't get past that. He was constantly asking, "Where's Bob?" or "Where's Larry?" when one would leave. He wanted his eyes on both of them at all times.
At the intermission, we had to take a bathroom break and grab some popcorn and a drink. The popcorn may or may not have been the highlight of the whole show. We sang, danced a little, nodded our heads to the beat and laughed the afternoon away, together. I am truly blessed to get to "date" this little guy.
